Welcome to the Helmut Schmidt University (HSU/UniBw H).
Our university is a place of science. It promotes exchange and cooperation with leading institutions and scientists worldwide in teaching and research. It enriches academic education through intercultural perspectives and strengthens scientific quality and innovation through its international research orientation.
Every year, we welcome numerous international guests in teaching and research. The contributions of guest lecturers and guest researchers from abroad are an important enrichment of our teaching and research activities and contribute to the sustainable internationalization of our university.
We have two central institutions that promote internationalization: the Welcome Office (WO) and the International Office (IO).
As a service facility, the Welcome Office supports international guest academics in planning and carrying out their stay at HSU/UniBw H and advises host institutions.
The core areas of the International Office are supporting international guest students during onboarding and HSU students during stays abroad, advising and supporting professors with regard to university cooperation and international projects as well as supporting staff during stays abroad.

As part of the University’s strategic efforts to strengthen and enhance its international ties, I am very glad that the Welcome Office has taken on the responsibility to take care of our international guests. Researchers, scientists and doctoral candidates from all over the world will find a welcoming atmosphere at our university, making their arrival and stay as unbureaucratic as possible.
For globally networked research and teaching as well as internationally oriented study opportunities, our faculties cooperate in many active partnerships and exchange ideas with universities and institutes all over the world. The supporting services of the International Office ensure the continuous expansion of these networks with a focus on the organization of incoming and outgoing student processes, staff mobility, and advisory and support services for concluding university cooperation agreements.
Together, the International Office and Welcome Office make a significant contribution to the internationalization of our university.
