Energy Research Network Hamburg

Logo EFH

With support of the Ministry of Science and Research Hamburg, the Energy Research Network Hamburg (EFH) was founded beginning 2013 as a joint program of the five big universities in Hamburg. The aim of this initiative is the creation of a network bundling expertise in the area of energy research and to jointly work on major challenges like sustainable energy supply. Represented by their energy research agents, the EFH consists of the University of Hamburg, the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg, the Helmut Schmidt University/University of the federal armed forces Hamburg, the HafenCity University as well as the University of Applied Science. The energy research agent of the Helmut Schmidt University is Mr. Prof. Dr. Detlef Schulz, who was also elected as speaker of the EFH by its members.

With the aid of the Energy Research Network Hamburg different research groups of Hamburg’s universities with an interest in energy research should be brought together to elaborate potential new (interdisciplinary) research projects. As an interface between the universities in Hamburg, the EFH takes over primarily coordinative tasks through connecting people with ideas with potential project partners from the field of researches but also from the field of industrial partners. The collaboration with the Renewable Energy Cluster Hamburg (EEHH), which is mainly coordinating the industrial part of energy research in the northern part of Germany, provides a good connection to these industrial partners.

One initiative of the EFH is the compilation of actual research calls and research opportunities on a national as well as international level. This compilation will be updated every few weeks and send around via a newsletter at the Universities in regular intervals (around 8 weeks). If you are interested in receiving this newsletter regularly please feel free to contact us.
