Publication in the dtec.bw anthology 2022

Together with its partners the project team has published an article in the “dtec.bw-Beiträge der Helmut-Schmidt-Universität / Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg: Forschungsaktivitäten im Zentrum für Digitalisierungs- und Technologieforschung der Bundeswehr dtec.bw, Band 1, 2022” (engl. “dtec anthology”) veröffentlicht. The piece is entitled „Funktions- und Messprinzip des Absetz- und Datenerfassungskonzepts eines Systems zur flugmobilen Netzdatenerfassung“ and can be found on pages 134 – 140.

4th doctoral colloquium with the group for Electrical Power Systems

Our 4th doctoral colloquium „Mein Weg zur Promotion“ (engl. “my way to the PhD”) provides our own as well as external PhD students with the opportunity to present their research topics by virtue of oral presentations with subsequent discussions. The main priority lies with the current state of every participant’s respective research activities.

Project meeting in Würzburg

To conclude the year 2022 a project meeting was held at Emqopter GmbH in Würzburg at which the current sate of affairs was shared and the achieved goals discussed. It was also a possibility to get an insight into the laboratories and workshops of Emqopter GmbH. Furthermore, a field test has been conducted successfully. Finally, goals for the year 2023 were identified and it was discussed which activities need to be undertaken in order to achieve the project’s milestones.

Project Description

The goal of the project “Digitalisierte, rechtssichere und emissionsarme flugmobile Inspektion und Netzdatenerfassung mit automatisierten Drohnen” – “DNeD” (engl. Digitalised, legally safe and low-emission airborne inspection and grid data acquisition using automated drones) is the development and testing of an intelligent airborne system with capabilities to automatically inspect above ground wires by virtue of a sensor device that can be released and deployed onto the wire so as to measure electrical parameters in the medium and high voltage domains. Our partner, the Emqopter GmbH, has produced a video showcasing the envisaged mode of operation. The video can be found via DNeD’s main page residing with the chair for Control Engineering by clicking on the following screenshot.

DNeD is a partner project between the chairs for Control Engineering, headed by Prof. Dr. Joachim Horn, and the chair for Electrical Power Systems, headed by Prof. Dr. Detlef Schulz. Both groups conduct research at Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg. The group for Electrical Power Systems is in charge of designing, developing, and constructing the sensors and is contributing to the work packages of the main work package MWP 3, depicted in Figure 1. All other aspects are being taken care of by the group for Control Engineering, which also assumes the project lead.
