Between Feb 7th and Feb 18th the team from the Professorship for Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning contributed again as teachers/moderators as well as participants to the Würzburg International Adult Education Academy (online). Over 80 master cycle and PhD students and practinioners from around the world studied and practiced comparative analysis in 10 thematic groups. As a documentation of results, a joint authorship from moderators and PhD students will be edited by Prof. Dr. Sabine Schmidt-Lauff, Dr. Jörg Schwarz (HSU) and Lisa Breitschwerdt (JMU Würzburg) in collarboration with WBV publishing house.

Adult Education Academy 2021 scores excellent in evaluation

With participation from the Professorshop for Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning / Prof. Sabine Schmidt-Lauff, the AEA2021 took place virtually in February. Evaluation results from this year’s participants prove again the excellent quality of the programme. With an overall mean rating of 4.68/5, the AEA 2021 received one of the highest scores in the programme history. The full report can be downloaded here:

Towards the INTALL Project Results”, the ERASMUS+ strategic partner Florence University holds an online conference on the future of adult education research in post-pandemic times on June 7th and 8th. New publication from Wuerzburg winter school 2019

The volume “International and Comparative Studies in Adult and Continuing Education” (Kröner, Boffo & Egetenmeyer (2020)) presents results from the 2019 ERASMUS+ INTALL ‘Winter School’. It provides insights into comparative adult education in Southern Europe and Germany but also into partnerships with other international universities. It comprises three thematic foci: (1) Teaching internationalisation and comparative adult and continuing education, (2) Comparative papers on adult and continu-ing education, and (3) Projects and practices from adult and continuing education.

On Sep. 16th the professorship for continuing education and lifelong learning / Prof. Dr. Sabine Schmidt-Lauff holds the international online workshop “INTALL@home – bringing research, practice and studying together“ from 09:00 – 13:30 (UTC/GMT +2).

The center of the workshop is in the open educational resources (OER) on international comparative research in adult and lifelong learning developed by HSU and partners in the ERASMUS+ strategic partnership INTALL (see “Research” on this page). Adult Education Academy 2021 in Würzburg

From 1.-12. February 2021 on Campus Würzburg in Germany the 8th International Adult Education Academy (formerly Winter School) for master and PhD students as well as practinioners from the field of adult education will take place. The professorship for continuing education and lifelong learning / Prof. Dr. Sabine Schmidt-Lauff will again be present as teaching moderators in the second week.

As for all of us the situation in 2021 is not clear, all participants can decide for an on-site or virtual option.
If participants decide for the on-site option, they also can change this to a virtual mode, if the Covid-19-situation does not allow an on-site mode. The application deadline ends on 21. September 2020.

Guest student from Aarhus University / Denmark

From Oktober 2019 until March 2020 Mathias Nørby Nielsen, a master student from the Danish School of Education, University of Aarhus is staying at the professorship to finish his master thesis “Geographies of HSU: Mapping the (inter)national engagement and inspirations among academic staff and students”. The project aims to explore how academic staff and students at HSU orient themselves nationally and internationally, and in which ways these relationalities affect daily practices as well as current and future life plans. The methodological framework will be centered around spatiality and mobilities, and will make use tools such as mapping patterns of mobility and perceptions of spaces and places to derive information about understandings, beliefs and opinions about (inter)national engagements and the meanings hereof.

 

Visit to UNESCO Institute for lifelong learning

During the stay of visiting Ass. Prof. Dr. Bolanle. C. Simeon-Fayomi at Helmut-Schmidt-University, the Professorship for Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning / Prof. Sabine Schmidt-Lauff and team organized a visit to the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning in Hamburg together with Prof. Silke Schreiber-Barsch of Hamburg University. The group was warmly welcomed by Werner Mauch, coordinator of the Adult Learning and Education Programme of UIL with a short presentation. In the follow-up discussion, important questions could be answered, especially for the guests from Ile-Ife University.
