Stephanie Schiller has been a research assistant at the Department of Sociology with Focus on Microsociology at HSU since June 2021. After training as a journalist, she studied visual communication at Hamburg University of Fine Arts (HFBK) specializing in photography and film. She has been a freelance publisher since 2010.
Her current field of research is juvenile detention. The guiding concepts are lack and confinement as parameters that frame the reality of the detainees’ lives, proximity, the indeterminacy of the juvenile prison as a place, powers and violence in the context of social interaction and social structures or ‘structures of desire’ as described by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari.
