High-pole Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG)

As a generator for wind turbines, usual DFIGs always have to be designed with a gearbox. This reduces efficiency and increases maintenance costs. The main field of research is the development of a high-pole DFIG without gearbox, taking into account the essential requirements from a system and network perspective.

Central Aspects

  • Interaction between grid and machine by means of dynamic simulations
  • Analytical and numerical DFIG design optimization
  • Consideration of physical boundary effects (e.g. narrow teeth)
