The HSU Library is migrating Shibboleth authentication to a new service operated by the data centre. This migration will take place on 3 February 2025.
What exactly is Shibboleth?
Shibboleth is a single sign-on system that allows you to access various digital resources with just one login. Instead of logging in separately for each service, you can use your HSU login details to access all licensed databases, e-journals and other online resources.
Why this change?
The migration of Shibboleth authentication to the data centre’s infrastructure brings several benefits:
- Enhanced security: By using the data centre’s infrastructure, you benefit from state-of-the-art security standards and technologies. The data centre employs a range of security measures, including multi-factor authentication and advanced firewalls, to provide the best possible protection for your data.
- Improved reliability: Authentication becomes more stable and reliable thanks to the data centre’s high-performance infrastructure.
- Centralised management: Centralised management of authentication in the data centre simplifies both administration and maintenance, resulting in more efficient operations.
