Profile


Barbara Dluhosch studied economics with a special focus on banking at the University of Cologne and is currently full Professor of Economics (C4) at Helmut-Schmidt University. Before joining the economics faculty at HSU, she was fixed-term Professor (Lehrstuhlvertretung) at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and held visiting positions at Stanford University and at the Central Bank of Spain’s Research Department. Her research interest is primarily focused in the fields of international economics (international trade and international finance, ICT and the globalization of production) and international relations, including international political economy, modes of global and multi-level governance (comprising also evolutionary approaches and self-enforcing institutions), fiscal policy issues in open economies, advanced economies and emerging markets, and economic policy analysis in general.

Her studies and her research have been funded inter alia by the German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes) and the German Research Foundation (DFG).

She is a member of the International Economics Council of the German Economic Assoc., the American Economic Assoc., the Canadian Economics Assoc., the Asociación Española de Economía y Finanzas Internacionales, the International Political Science Assoc., and the Mont Pelerin Society.

Profile:


Saeed Khodaverdian is a Post doc and Teaching Assistant at HSU. He studied Electrical Engineering and Business Administration (Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing.) at the TU Darmstadt. Thereafter, he went to Frankfurt School of Finance and Management where he graduated with a PhD in economics (Dr. rer. pol.).

Before joining HSU, he spent a term as visiting international scholar at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA.

His current research concentrates on international economics with a particular focus on political economy. This includes aspects of growth and development, institutions and democracy, income inequality and redistribution, as well as international trade and globalization.

M.Sc. in Mathematical Economics (Vienna University of Technology)
B.Sc. in Statistics and Mathematics (Vienna University of Technology)

Helene Binder studied mathematical economics at the Vienna University of Technology focusing on the fields of economic policy and operations research. In her master thesis, she examined the impact of the modern knowledge economy on policy decisions in higher education with particular reference to the university systems of China and the European Union. In the course of her studies, she spent a term at Marmara University, Istanbul, where she specialized in international economics. In September 2014, Helene Binder joined the Economics Department at Helmut Schmidt University as a research assistant.

Profile:

Inti Weichert studied International Area Studies at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. In his master thesis, he examined the socio-economic risks and development prospects of lithium production in Chile.Previously, he studied International Management at the University of Flensburg, focusing in his bachelor thesis on negative externalities in the transport sector. In addition, he spent a semester abroad at the Universidad Católica del Norte, Coquimbo Chile. Inti Weichert joined the Economics Department at Helmut Schmidt University in April 2016 with his expertise in Latin American economies.
