Profile

Barbara Dluhosch studied economics with a special focus on banking at the University of Cologne and is currently full Professor of Economics (C4) at Helmut-Schmidt University. Before joining the economics faculty at HSU, she was fixed-term Professor (Lehrstuhlvertretung) at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and held visiting positions at Stanford University and at the Central Bank of Spain’s Research Department. Her research interest is primarily focused in the fields of international economics (international trade and international finance, ICT and the globalization of production) and international relations, including international political economy, modes of global and multi-level governance (comprising also evolutionary approaches and self-enforcing institutions), fiscal policy issues in open economies, advanced economies and emerging markets, and economic policy analysis in general.

Her studies and her research have been funded inter alia by the German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes) and the German Research Foundation (DFG).

She is a member of the International Economics Council of the German Economic Assoc., the Canadian Economics Assoc., the Asociación Española de Economía y Finanzas Internacionales, and the Mont Pelerin Society.
