Description
Both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs are designed as intensive study programs, which are completed after a maximum of three years with the “Bachelor of Science” and after four years with the “Master of Science”. Civil engineers plan, develop and construct, calculate and experiment, monitor, ensure safety and support the
Users of infrastructure facilities. The field of activity is extremely diverse: Civil engineers build residential and commercial buildings, roads and tunnels, railway stations and airports, sewers and sewage treatment plants, canals and harbors, coastal protection structures and offshore wind turbines. With regard to climate and environmental protection, the field of work has expanded considerably. From “simple” building has become complex development, planning, entertaining, preserving and recycling. The lifecycle of buildings and infrastructures becomes the focus of attention and requires the civil engineer to accompany this process.
Program structure
The bachelor degree program Civil Engineering usually takes seven trimesters and consists of compulsory modules, elective modules and a thesis. Students who have not yet completed all services can be admitted to the Master’s program for the time being. Students who have earned 180 credit points with a minimum grade of 3.0 by the end of the eighth trimester of study can continue their Master studies. Students who do not meet these requirements can earn the missing credits in the ninth trimester to successfully complete their bachelor’s degree.
The master program lasts five trimesters (eighth to twelfth trimester of study) and concludes with the master’s thesis. The Master’s degree program extends and deepens the basic knowledge and skills taught in the Bachelor’s program.
