The DS2CCP (Digital Sensor-2-Cloud Campus Platform) research project is supported by the Bundeswehr Center for Digitalization and Technology Research (dtec.bw) and funded by the European Union (NextGenerationEU).
Project Duration:
Phase 1: January 1, 2021, through December 31, 2024
; Phase 2: January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2026
Project Leader:
Prof. Dr.–Ing. Gerd Scholl, (Electrical Measurement Engineering)
Project Participants:
Prof. Dr.–Ing. habil. Udo Zölzer, (Communications Engineering)

The goal of DS2CCP is to conduct research and establish a university-based real-world laboratory for the seamless, deterministic, and secure networking of sensors and actuators—from the industrial shop floor through a private 5G campus network all the way to the edge cloud.
Project Description
HSU‘s Private 5G Campus Network
A comprehensive communication concept spanning from the sensor layer to the cloud, while adhering to strict safety, security, and latency requirements.
A high-performance 5G standalone network in the exclusive 3.7–3.8 GHz band for the university.
IO-Link Wireless Safety
dtec.bw Annual Conferences
Fail-safe wireless protocols (SIL 3 / PL e) for mobile emergency stop control devices and wireless safety applications in manufacturing cells.
Recent conference papers from the dtec.bw annual conference on 5G security, DoS resilience, and the Software Bill of Materials (SBOM).
