This year’s PIAZZA Conference will take place on November 6 – featuring exciting digital workshops at the intersection of public administration, civil society, and academia.

Together with Doris Allhutter (ITA of the Austrian Academy of Sciences), the Chair of Public Administration will moderate a workshop that explores shifting boundaries between the welfare state, digitalization, and participation:

“Beyond Sectoral Boundaries: Co-Creative Digitalization of Social Services”
We will discuss with practitioners, policymakers, and researchers how digital solutions for social services can be developed and implemented in a participatory manner – and what institutional conditions are necessary for this to succeed.

As part of the EU COST Action project CA22150 – Comparative Research on the Executive Triangle in Europe (CoREx) – Nina Felgendreher took part in the second CoREx conference at Comenius University in Bratislava from May 20 to 21. The event brought together over 80 researchers from more than 30 countries and provided a productive platform for international exchange and collaboration. As part of the conference, she presented the initial results of the pilot coding for Germany. Together with the colleagues, important progress was made in the development of the project.

Research Associate Dr. Sarah Cardaun participated in the annual conference of the International Research Society for Public Management (IRSPM), which took place 7 – 9 April 2025 in Bologna, Italy. She presented a paper on Integrated Security in panel 22 on “Security, Defence and Crisis Management”.

Nina Felgendreher and Freya Brockstedt participated in the 18th annual conference of the Forum Junge Staats-, Policy- und Verwaltungsforschung (FoJuS), the junior organization of the Section ‚Policy-Analyse und Verwaltungswissenschaft‘ within the Deutsche Vereinigung für Politische Wissenschaft (DVPW), held at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, where they presented their own papers. In engaging discussions – both during the conference and informally – they exchanged ideas with other young researchers and gained valuable new perspectives.
