Description
With the study subject industrial engineering the students should be given a wide range of technical skills and knowledge in business administration, economics, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. Particular attention is paid to the interdisciplinary view between the disciplines involved. The students should develop special skills that are necessary for qualified and responsible acting in the professional practice and make it possible to record economic and technical relationships, to analyze them with scientific methods and to actively control them. Based on a sound theoretical basis of the economic and engineering sub-disciplines, implementation skills are imparted that enable the graduates to apply methods, techniques and instruments in a goal-oriented and responsible manner.
Program structure
The Bachelor’s degree course in Industrial Engineering and Management generally lasts seven trimesters and consists of compulsory modules, compulsory elective modules and a final thesis. Students who have not yet completed all the coursework can be provisionally admitted to the Master’s degree program. Students who have earned 180 credit points with a grade of at least 3.0 by the end of the eighth study trimester can continue the Master’s degree program. Students who do not meet these requirements can acquire the missing credit points in the ninth trimester in order to successfully complete their Bachelor’s degree.
The Master’s degree course lasts five trimesters (eighth to twelfth trimester) and concludes with the Master’s thesis. The Master’s degree program in Industrial Engineering and Management expands and deepens the basic knowledge and skills acquired in the Bachelor’s degree program.
The Bachelor’s degree course in Industrial Engineering and Management offered at HSU is divided into a foundation course (1st to 4th trimester) and a main course (4th to 7th trimester). It leads to a professionally qualifying degree and provides basic as well as partially in-depth knowledge, for example in the following disciplines:
- business administration
- human resources and organization
- machine drawing
- electrical engineering
- mathematics
- economics
- computer science
- automation engineering
In the Master’s program, students can choose between three alternative specializations:
