The school of methodology and statistics first and foremost deals with the theoretical foundations of science. More specifically, this entails the design of empirical research studies as well as the collection, analysis and interpretation of data. The school of Psychology is in need of such data, in order to formulate and test theories concerning human experiences and behaviour. Accordingly, methodology and statistics aim to offer the crucial “tools” necessary to gain knowledge in the field of scientific psychology.
