Research programme

The research programme of the Chair of Business Administration, in particular Organisation Theory, is focused on the theoretically sound, empirical investigation of organisational and inter-organisational processes as well as the interaction of these two levels. Research work has so far concentrated on the high-tech sector, the automotive and aviation industries as well as the music industry in Germany and in a European context.

In line with the growing importance of innovation in regions, we are also working on concepts for sustainable network and cluster analysis and development. This programme is partly driven forward in cooperation with the inter-university research group “Entrepreneurial Networks” (led by Prof. Dr. Jörg Sydow at the Free University of Berlin). As part of the research programme, there is usually close cooperation with companies or networks of companies (e.g. the Hamburg Aviation Cluster – Hamburg Aviation, networks in the automotive industry or the Optical Technologies Cluster Berlin-Brandenburg – OpTecBB); this applies to dissertation and habilitation projects as well as to third-party funded projects.
