The project ‘Validierung und Verifizierung von Verfahren der Zustandserfassung von Brücken’ of the Bundesanstalt für Straßenwesen (BASt) deals with the reliability assessment of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods that are used for the condition assessment of bridges during inspections. The focus here is on methods based on the propagation of elastic waves. This primarily includes ultrasonic and impact-echo testing. Experimentally obtained data will be enriched with validated simulation data to ensure a sufficiently large database. Reliability assessments are to be carried out using a probability of detection (PoD) analysis. Furthermore, the cost/benefit factor of an object-related damage analysis using non-destructive testing will be determined as an example in a profitability analysis.
