Lena Pollmann, née Schumacher, is a doctoral candidate and research associate in the project ‘Management of Interface Conflicts in African Security Governance’ at the Helmut-Schmidt-University in Hamburg. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Political Science (2008-2011) and a Master’s Degree (with distinction) in Peace and Conflict Studies (2011-2014). She wrote her Master thesis on the relations and normative conflicts between the African Union and the International Criminal Court. After her graduation Lena Pollmann worked for the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA) and gained experience in international development cooperation in South Sudan, Uganda and Iraq, where she worked as Program Coordinator for the Deutsche Welthungerhilfe. Back in research, her focus includes regionalism, peace-keeping and intrastate conflicts in Sub-Saharan Africa as well as norm conflicts and security governance.
