The Hydraulics Laboratory is under construction in the City of Glinde. The laboratory exists of 900 sqm and a closed water circulation system with approx. 300 cbm storage. Two pumps provide a discharge up to 1,500 l/s via DN500 pipe system.

Measurement devices / facilities:

  • Microsonic ultrasonic probes
  • HBK QuantumX measuring amplifier
  • isel positioning system
  • Sontek M9 ADCP, rQPOD
  • Sontek FlowTracker2
  • HR Wallingford point gauge
  • Siemens SITRANS FM MID
  • Krohne Optiflux 2100 W MID
  • LaVision High-Speed PIV, Phantom VEO 440L
  • Bigrep ONE4 3D-printer

Flumes:

  • Horizontal Flume (L = 20 m, B = 1,0 m, H = 1,0 m)
  • Wave Flume(L = 20 m, B = 0,8 m, H = 0,8 m)
  • Tilting Flume (in process, L = 15 m, B = 1,5 m, H = 1,0 m)
  • Block Ramp (in process, L = 10 m, B = 3 m, H = 0,5 m)

Up-to-date measurement devices are used for field measurements. To produce bathemetry data and high-resoluted velocity profiles an ADCP boat is available. This boat also allows autonomous driving functions. Additionally, ADV probes and other devices are used.

Modern software products are used for numerical flow simulations. For 1D and 2D simulations the program package HEC-RAS is in operation in lectures and research. For 3D CFD simulations FLOW-3D and OpenFoam are used.
