Transfer and Innovation at the Helmut Schmidt University/University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg

The transfer of knowledge and technology at the HSU/UniBw H pursues the mission of making innovative ideas and technologies usable for science, businesses and society in the form of start-ups, patents and co-operations. To this end, innovators have various professional contact points at their disposal: the HSU Innovation Hub, dtec.bw and the HSU/UniBw H innovation network.

Innovative and entrepreneurial minds among the students and researchers at HSU/UniBw H can draw on a wide range of resources – access to coaching, mentoring, companies, investors, co-founders and events – to develop their start-up ideas and to transfer their research findings into practice.

Wissenschaft meets Innovation

The HSU/UniBw H disposes of significant scientific research resources from over 120 chairs and institutes. The diversity of the research offers great potential which, in addition to academic significance, also has direct practical and economic relevance. Due to the inherent novelty of research findings, market advantages can be exploited by spin-offs or start-ups – because innovation lies dormant in all research and it only needs a business model to create an innovative start-ups from research results.

HSU Innovation Hub

The HSU Innovation Hub focuses on bridging the gap between research and entrepreneurship. It is the main touchpoint for HSU HSU/UniBw H students, researchers and for external parties – primarily companies, research organisations and governmental institutions. At the HSU Innovation Hub we teach innovators the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and intellectual property protection, help them develop their business ideas and support them in finding the right way to commercialize their knowledge and technologies. The HSU Innovation Hub also itself as a link between innovators at HSU/UniBw H and institutions from business and society. The Hub provides support in the areas of knowledge and technology transfer, start-up management and cooperation management. It is based at the Digital Hub Logistics & Commerce in Hamburg’s old warehouse district, the Speicherstadt.

dtec.bw

dtec.bw – the Bundeswehr Centre for Digitalisation and Technology Research – is a joint centre of the two universities of the Federal Armed Forces. dtec.bw strives to foster digital innovation by providing funding to 43 interdisciplinary research projects involving a wide range of academic disciplines. The HSU Innovation Hub is available to the researchers involved in these projects with its own expertise and its Innovation Network. These offers are complemented by the knowledge and technology transfer of dtec.bw. The projects also benefit from the wide range of services offered by the dtec.bw incubator. dtec.bw is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

Beagle Systems
