Food and Drink <\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There are a number of eateries on campus, perfect for a cup of coffee with colleagues or a relaxed lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dining hall<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is an on-campus canteen that serves three meals a day \u2013 breakfast, lunch, dinner. The dining hall is closed Friday afternoon to Sunday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will need a Mensacard to pay for meals at the dining hall, for which you will have to submit a request. Cash payment is accepted only in exceptional circumstances. The current week\u2019s menu is put up on screens on the Red Square in the main building and posted on the HSU<\/abbr> mobile app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caf\u00e9<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a snack or a hot drink, look no further than \u201cBackparadies Hornung\u201d, the caf\u00e9 below the Red Square in the main building. The caf\u00e9 serves a range of coffee drinks, sandwiches and pastries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBackparadies Hornung\u201d is open 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Thursday and from 8 am to 1 pm on Fridays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vending machines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Packaged snacks and a range of drinks are available around the clock from the vending machines on the ground floor on the Red Square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers‘ Club<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The HSU<\/abbr> Officers\u2019 Club is located five minutes\u2019 walk from campus, on the corner of Rodigallee and Holstenhofweg. The Officers\u2019 Club is operated by the University and provides an additional service: it not only serves a range of food and drinks but is also home to a bar area and several function rooms that can be reserved for business meetings or private gatherings and events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Officers\u2019 Club is open to all HSU<\/abbr> members and guests. The menu is seasonal and changes weekly. Hot food is served Monday to Thursday from noon until 4:30 pm. For the current week\u2019s menu and other relevant information, go to https:\/\/www.hsu-hh.de\/ohg\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Library<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The University Library<\/a> is the central location for providing literature and information to university members and visiting scholars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diverse analog and electronic resources, supplemented by interlibrary loan options, ensure that you have access to the best possible literature for your research. Modern workspaces, personal support, and an open atmosphere make our library the ideal place to visit during your research stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Language Training Centre<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

For those looking to learn or improve their German or another language, HSU<\/abbr> has a Language Centre with a wide range of language courses, which is ideal for those staying in Hamburg\/at HSU<\/abbr> for at least three months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are looking for an immersion course in German or individual lessons, an external language school could be your best option. A list of them is available in the download section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HSU<\/abbr> also organises a tandem programme. In such programmes, two people with different native languages meet regularly to learn each other\u2019s language. If you are interested in finding a tandem partner, please contact Sol\u00e8ne David (davids@hsu.hamburg<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sports Centre<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

HSU<\/abbr> offers a wide range of sports and exercise facilities and activities. It also has its own indoor swimming pool, several sports halls, a sports field and gyms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While you are free to use these services and facilities, please check in advance if your health and accident insurance also covers sporting accidents. You are NOT insured through the University!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protestant and Catholic University Communities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

HSU<\/abbr> is home to both a protestant and a Catholic University Community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Protestant University Community<\/strong> regularly hosts a casual lunchtime church service at the Bischof-Hermann-Kunst-Haus, J\u00fcthornstrasse 61, 22043 Hamburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Catholic University Community<\/strong> (KHG) <\/strong>meets every Tuesday at 7:15 pm for mass, dinner and a friendly drink at Maximilian-Kolbe-Haus, Oktaviostrasse 76, 22043 Hamburg. Anyone is welcome; prior registration is not required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every Monday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, the toddler group meets in KHG; registration is required at khg@hsu.hamburg<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
