After completing his studies, he worked as a project engineer and project manager for Hochtief Construction AG. He then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Steel Construction at RWTH Aachen University and received his doctorate under <abbr title=\"Professor\">Prof.<\/abbr> Feldmann. From 2013 he worked for W\u00f6lfel Engineering in various management positions &#8211; most recently as a business manager. On September 1st, 2020, <abbr title=\"Professor\">Prof.<\/abbr> G\u00fcndel took over the chair for steel construction and hydraulic steel construction at the Helmut Schmidt University \/ UniBW Hamburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><abbr title=\"Professor\">Prof.<\/abbr> G\u00fcndel is a member of several national and European standards committees (DIN EN 1998-1, -2, -4 and -6, DIN 4150-2, SC8 WG2) and deals extensively with steel structures under dynamic influences, novel manufacturing processes and condition assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Research priorities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Steel structures under dynamic loads from earthquakes, impacts and explosions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Novel manufacturing processes for steel, steel composite and lightweight metal structures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Condition recording and monitoring of supporting structures and materials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CV Prof. G\u00fcndel studied civil engineering at the TU Darmstadt from 1999 to 2004.
