The project is dedicated to the phenomenon of <em>edtech testbeds<\/em>. It examines the current emergence of settings for the testing and\/or (re-)design of edtech. In doing so, the project investigates the collaboration between (edtech) companies, educational practice, and research within testbed initiatives. It explores the shaping of new governance structures and actor constellations in the field as well as the discourses and practices around edtech &#8222;impact&#8220;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8222;<a href=\"https:\/\/eth-tech.eu\/\" rel='nofollow'>ETH-TECH &#8211; Anchoring Ethical Technology (AI and data) Usage in the Education Practice<\/a>&#8220; (since 10\/2024)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Erasmus + project together with Babes Bolyai University (Cluj Napoca) in Romania, the University of Barcelona and the University of Padua. The project aims to promote an ethical approach to the use of technologies in higher education. The main motivation is to spread a more complex and critical vision of technologies, as well as to develop OERs that practicioners can use to support their everyday decision-making. The team at <abbr title=\"Helmut Schmidt Universit\u00e4t\">HSU<\/abbr> (<abbr title=\"Professor\">Prof.<\/abbr> <abbr title=\"Doktor\">Dr.<\/abbr> Sigrid Hartong and <abbr title=\"Doktor\">Dr.<\/abbr> Ina Sander) are leading the work package OER development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smasch.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Project Smart Schools (SMASCH)<\/a>\u201d (01\/2021-12\/2024; extension 01\/2025-12\/2026)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Research project under the umbrella of <a href=\"https:\/\/dtecbw.de\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dtec.bw<\/a>\/Center for Digitization and Technology Research of the Armed Forces. The project supports schools in the development of sustainable, pedagogically meaningful digitization strategies. Within the context of the project extension, we develop a transnational, digitality-oriented school development platform, which further develops the results of the first project phase and tests them with schools in Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Belgium and Denmark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cDigital Education Governance &#8211; International-Comparative Analyses of Datafication, Digitalization and Automation of Education (Governance)\u201d<\/strong> (2020-2025)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DFG Heisenberg funding<\/strong> (2020-2025) for the establishment of the research focus Digital Education Governance. Here, in particular, work on three projects:<br>(1) The effects of digital education governance on educational federalism and democracy;<br>(2) The productive effects of predictive governance instruments;<br>(3) The Estonian Education Information System (EEIS) and its embedding in the overall digital system of e-estonia (eesti). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hsu-hh.de\/sozgov\/en\/research\/project-e-estonia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Link.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/unblackthebox.org\/unblack-the-box\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UNBLACK THE BOX<\/a>\u201d(since fall 2019)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UNBLACK THE BOX is a network initiative founded in 2019 by researchers from educational science, sociology, educational informatics, media and health pedagogy as well as teachers in schools, universities or teacher training and further education. It pursues the goal of enabling educational institutions, teachers and lecturers to face the growing computerization and digitalization of education with enlightened, critical and conscious decision-making and design skills, even without extensive informatics knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hsu-hh.de\/sozgov\/en\/research\/datafied-data-for-and-in-education\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DATAFIED (DATA For and In EDucation). The Construction of School in the Process of Datafication<\/a>\u201d (December 2018-May 2022)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><abbr title=\"Bundesministerium f\u00fcr Bildung und Forschung\">BMBF<\/abbr> collaborative project (duration 36 months) to analyze changing relationships in the complex web of roles in schools, ideas of \u201cgood schools\u201d, and professionalism through the increasing relevance and integration of digital data.
