For the validation and further development of this system, a specially constructed test stand was set up. It comprises two translational motion axes, who are carrying a drone for vertical and horizontal movement, each. Hence, both drones are able to move along mentioned axes. In the final setup the drone mounted onto the horizontal axis additionally carries the camera\/sensor system. In a first approximation, we are going to substitute the horizontal mounted drone with a higher speed digital camera and some additional lasers around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since drones are technically not really different from other omnidirectional robot systems, except the third dimension and given dynamics, all movement algorithms, especially those who were part of past developments for ground robots in our department, can then be applied to the drones with mentioned camera\/sensor-system (SFU) as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this, we are looking for highly motivated students with the ability to show first good grades paired by an increased interest solving complex tasks as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would like to be part of this exciting development process or learn more about this project, feel free to contact Jens M\u00fcller <a href=\"mailto:jmueller@hsu-hh.de\" rel='nofollow'>jmueller@hsu-hh.de<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The newly developed camera\/sensor system (SFU-Swarm-Flight-Unit) is used for pattern recognition, classification, and proximity calculation of drones into three dimensional space.
