\"dfg<\/a>An Interdisciplinary Network on the Methodology and Applications of Integrative Research Methods<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The network Mixed Methods and Multimethod Social Research<\/em> promotes interdisciplinary and international dialog between reserachers in the field of mixed and multimethod research. Its central topics<\/a> mirror current methodological issues, such as MMMR<\/abbr> approaches to causal analysis, integrative methods of data collection and analysis, or quality criteria and best-practice standards.<\/p>\n

Our biannual workshop meetings<\/a> provide opportunities to develop joint research projects and exchange ideas and criticism with international experts in the field.<\/p>\n

The network is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation – project number 374277577)<\/a>. It started in January 2018 and will receive funding over a period of three years. Its membership<\/a>\u00a0 includes early career researchers as well as experienced experts from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, working in the fields of sociology, political science, educational science, and psychology.<\/p>\n

Mission Statement<\/h3>\n

The research network Mixed Methods and Multi-Method Social Research works to improve the quality and prevalence of empirical social research combining different (qualitative and\/or quantitative) methods approaches. Network activities aim to increase the visibility and intensity of scientific debate in three main areas: Investigating the methodological and epistemological groundwork of method integration, advancing integrative research methods and design, intensifying dialog across methodological, disciplinary, and regional divides. The network proceedings are guided by an inclusive concept of mixed methods and multimethod research (MMMR<\/abbr>), and the definition of three main project goals.<\/p>\n

Conference Mixed Methods in Social Structural Analysis<\/em>, Goettingen March 31-April 1 2022<\/h3>\n

On March 31 and April 1 of 2022 the conference „Mixed Methods in Social Structural Analysis: Potentials of Integrating Qualitative and Quantitative Approaches“ took place at Georg-August-University Goettingen (conference held in German). The conferences was jointly organized by the section Social Inequality and Social Structural Analysis<\/a> within the German Sociological Association, the working group Mixed Methods<\/a> of the Sections Empirical Research Methods and Qualitative Research Methods in the German Sociological Association, the Sociological Research Institute Goettingen<\/a>, the Sociology Department of Goettingen University<\/a>, and the Network MMMR<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n

6th Workshop Meeting on Mixed Methods & Teaching, June 3-4, 2021<\/h3>\n

Our sixth workshop meeting took place on June 4, 2021<\/strong> at Helmut-Schmidt-University Hamburg on the topic of Teaching Mixed Methods and Communicating Research Results<\/strong>. On June 3<\/strong> we hosted an additional author-conference during which 20 participants discussed their contributions to the edited volume „Mixed Methods and Multimethod Social Research \u2013 Current Applications and Future Directions“<\/em>, which is scheduled to appear as a special issue in Forum Qualitative Sozialforschung \/ Forum: Qualitative Social Research<\/em> in the Fall of 2022. Unfortunately, both meetings had to be held in an online format due to Covid19-restrictions. Nonetheless, we\u00a0 thank all participants for a very insightful and productive conference!<\/p>\n

5th Workshop Meeting on Quality Criteria and Best-Practice Standards, February 5-7, 2020<\/h3>\n

On February 5-7 our fourth network meeting on Quality Criteria and Best-Practice Standards for MMMR<\/abbr><\/em> took place at Helmut Schmidt University Hamburg.<\/p>\n

4th Workshop Meeting on integrated data analysis, May 23-25, 2019<\/h3>\n

On May 23-25 our fourth network meeting on „Methods for Integrative Data Analysis“ took place at Goettingen University.<\/p>\n

In addition to our public keynotes on May 24, our network meeting included a pre-conference on „Data Analysis and Sampling in Mixed Methods and Multimethod Social Research“ on\u00a0 May 23.<\/p>\n

3rd Workshop Meeting on Sampling and Data Analysis, January 17-19, 2019<\/h3>\n

Our third workshop meeting on „Sampling, Data Collection and Data Combinations in Mixed Methods and Multimethod Research“ took place at TU<\/abbr> Berlin, Januar 17-19, in collaboration with the DFG Collaborate Research Centre \u201eRe-Figuration of Spaces\u201c (SFB 1265)<\/a> and the DFG Graduate School „Innovation Society Today“ (GRK 1672)<\/a>!<\/p>\n

DEval joins research network on MMMR<\/h3>\n

We are very happy to announce that the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval)<\/a> has joined our research network!\u00a0DEval is the first non-university member of the network and contributes valuable experience in practical research and evaluation in the field of development cooperation.<\/p>\n

\u201eComplex evaluations require an effective and efficient combination of methods in order to generate reliable evidence\u201c says Dr Sven Harten<\/a>, department head of the Competence Centre for Evaluation Methodology of DEval. That\u2019s why the department has recently established a research program on Method Integration in Complex Evaluation. In order to strengthen cooperation with German and Austrian universities leading in mixed and multi-methods, DEval now joins the MMMR<\/abbr> Research Network.<\/p>\n
