In Lehre und Forschung ist er mit der j\u00fcdischen Bev\u00f6lkerung im Russischen Reich, der Wissensgeschichte der Ethnographie in Osteuropa sowie der Autobiographik im 19. Jahrhundert befasst. Er arbeitet an einer Geschichte autobiographischer Texte aus j\u00fcdischer Feder.
