Slope-Compensator

Adaptive Dispersion-Slope-Compensator

High bitrate optical transmission systems necessitate high demands on compensation of chromatic dispersion. The time-variant residual dispersion, depending on different environmental effects (e.g. temperature drift) has to be minimized using adaptive filters. Owing to the high bandwidth of the transmitted signals, the fluctuations in the chromatic dispersion slope within a single transmission channel are not negligible.
Based on optical delay line filters an adaptive dispersion slope compensator has to be designed and realized in the context of this project. Mathematically, optical delay line filters can be described by terms of digital filter theories. Using adequate filter coefficients and adaptive tracing, the dispersion slope within a single channel can be compensated.
