The <strong>Wireless Industrial IoT<\/strong> research group at the EMT Chair is developing highly robust, deterministic wireless solutions for demanding manufacturing environments with severe metallic multipath propagation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our Core Competencies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Real-time-capable wireless systems:<\/strong> Latency of less than 3 ms and guaranteed cycle times for time-critical control loops.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Channel Measurement &amp; Simulation:<\/strong> Spatially Resolved 3D Wavefield Estimation and Multichannel Radio Channel Emulators.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Interference-Free Parallel Operation:<\/strong> Dynamic frequency and power management when Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 6\/7), Bluetooth, and private cellular networks are all in use simultaneously.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spectrum Monitoring &amp; Coexistence Management<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone wp-image-236 size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hsu-hh.de\/emt\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/686\/2017\/11\/spektrogramm-1.gif\" data-credit=\"\" alt=\" \" class=\"wp-image-236\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Real-time radio spectrum of the 2.45 GHz ISM band<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Comprehensive 2.45 GHz spectrum monitoring<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The department has developed a real-time, cost-effective spectrum analyzer that monitors the entire 2.45-GHz ISM band. The system detects and classifies interfering wireless systems (e.g., Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth LE, ZigBee, or Wireless HART) within milliseconds and enables adaptive avoidance strategies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sorting System (&#8222;Ball Sorter&#8220;)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"1920\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 2560 \/ 1920;\" width=\"2560\" controls src=\"https:\/\/www.hsu-hh.de\/emt\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/686\/2026\/08\/kugelsortierer_optimiert.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">High-Speed Sorting System: 3 ms Latency Under Interference<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The wireless demonstrator developed at the department pneumatically sorts colored test balls at high throughput speeds. Less than 3 ms elapses between optical color detection at the sensor node and the pneumatic ejection nozzle. The demonstrator proves the absolute immunity to interference of the developed wireless protocol, even with three high-load Wi-Fi systems transmitting simultaneously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Broadband Radio Channel Measurement Technology (MCCW Method)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7-Channel Broadband Radio Channel Measurement System<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To physically measure industrial multipath propagation, the department uses a multi-carrier continuous-wave (MCCW) method with 81 parallel carriers and a bandwidth of 110 MHz.
