In November 2023, the <em>International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)<\/em> published the standard <strong>IEC 61139-3:2023<\/strong> (<em>Single-Drop Digital Communication Interface \u2013 Part 3: Wireless Extensions<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/webstore.iec.ch\/publication\/67894\" rel='nofollow'>Go to the official standard IEC 61139-3:2023 in the IEC Webstore<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Deterministic Real-Time<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cycle time: <strong>&lt; 5 ms<\/strong> (scalable to less than 2 ms for time-critical control applications).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deterministic F\/TDMA (Frequency- and Time-Division Multiple Access) access method.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Unparalleled Reliability<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Packet error rate (PER): <strong>&lt; 10\u207b\u2079<\/strong> (comparable to wired cable buses).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Frequency hopping and adaptive channel blacklisting algorithms in the 2.45-GHz ISM band.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Scalability &amp; Density<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Up to <strong>120 wireless devices<\/strong> per cell (divided into up to 3 W-Master tracks).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full backward compatibility with IO-Link V1.1 (Sensor Profile level).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Standardization &amp; Funding Background<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (<strong>BMWK<\/strong>) under the <strong>WIPANO<\/strong> funding guidelines (Project <em>IOLW-4-IEC<\/em>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continued in close cooperation with the <strong>IO-Link Community<\/strong> \/ <strong>PROFIBUS User Organization e.V.
