After submitting his thesis on \u2018Development of a thermal and hydraulic coupled hydrogen storage system based on metal hydrides for automotive application\u2019, he successfully defended it on 19 November in the presence of colleagues, family and friends. He first presented his work in a lecture open to the university public and then defended it to the examination board (<abbr title=\"Universit\u00e4tsprofessor\">Univ.-Prof.<\/abbr> <abbr title=\"Doktor\">Dr.<\/abbr> Martin Meywerk (Chair), <abbr title=\"Professor\">Prof.<\/abbr> <abbr title=\"Doktor\">Dr.<\/abbr>-lng. Julian Jepsen, <abbr title=\"Universit\u00e4tsprofessor\">Univ.-Prof.<\/abbr> <abbr title=\"Doktor\">Dr.<\/abbr>-lng. <abbr title=\"habilitatus\">habil.<\/abbr> Thomas Klassen and <abbr title=\"Professor\">Prof.<\/abbr> <abbr title=\"Doktor\">Dr.<\/abbr> Michael Heere of <abbr title=\"Technische Universit\u00e4t\">TU<\/abbr> Braunschweig) in an oral examination. As part of the examination, he had to answer questions relating directly to his work and material science and hydrogen technology in general. As an external doctoral student at <abbr title=\"Helmut Schmidt Universit\u00e4t\">HSU<\/abbr>, Maximilian Passing completed his doctorate at the Helmholtz Center Hereon as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hereon.de\/innovation_transfer\/communication_media\/news\/099779\/index.php.de\" rel='nofollow'>H2HybridTank project<\/a> together with Volkswagen AG and Panco <abbr title=\"Gesellschaft mit beschr\u00e4nkter Haftung\">GmbH<\/abbr>. He will remain at the Helmholtz Center Hereon as a postdoc.
