In seiner Dissertation mit dem Titel \u201eEngineering ontologischer Modelle in der Automatisierungstechnik\u201c hat er eine Methode entwickelt, wie Ontologien begleitend zum Entwurfsprozess von Software-gesteuerten Systemen entworfen und implementiert werden k\u00f6nnen, effizient und mit einem hohen Grad an Wiederverwendung. Solche Ontologien beschreiben Begriffe und deren Zusammenh\u00e4nge eines Wissensgebiets und erm\u00f6glichen Steuerungs-Algorithmen, auf der Basis dieses Wissens die Umgebung zu interpretieren und geeignete Handlungen zu vollziehen.
